Myanmar’s military go AWOL in relief efforts

In most countries, the military are called out to assist with relief efforts during national disasters. This has not been happening in Myanmar after Gen Min Aung Hlaing called for aid from everywhere else in the world.

Myanmar's opium production is 2.5 times higher than it was before Senior General Min Aung Hlaing staged his coup in 2021. The legacy narcotic's return is a sign of the country's economic devastation as people struggle to feed their families.

The International Criminal Court wants to issue an arrest warrant for Myanmar's Senior General Min Aung Hlaing -- as it already has for Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu and Russia's Vladimir Putin -- but the chances of actually catching the general are virtually nil.
