Fantastic. More bonds for us

This is what it means to be balanced. There are always two equally valid perspectives that must be presented. Here, Europe may see Trump as the single biggest threat since WW2, but they also can’t deny his sick tee shots. It’s up to us, the esteemed readers, to weigh these facts.

Yeah to be clear, this is monstrous, sadistic shit that only the absolute scum of the earth could abide. But roids and drugs can also amplify it, and I think it’s an important point of inquiry.

Has there been any reporting on drug use within ICE? This shit is so psychotic it’s hard to imagine that these fuckers aren’t all tweaked up

All the arguments for this idiocy seem to ignore that NATO exists now

Isn’t the threshold to declare 10k? There were two travelers. Pathetic stuff either way

Amazing how 160 years after the 14th amendment’s ratification, with a mountain of case law since then, some guy figures out what the drafters *really* meant

As for Trump himself, I’m not sure he sees a difference between earning it legitimately or strong-arming the actual recipient into giving it to him. What matters to him is that he has the physical medal to hang on the wall. Which in his mind means he deserves it.

What I’m struggling to accept is that his circle sincerely believes that he *deserves* the peace prize for promoting peace. I think they largely have contempt for the prize and what it represents. But they value displays of power and enjoy seeing him take it because it’s a flex.
January 16, 2026 at 3:32 AM
They actually believe he ended 9 wars? Not the average Fox News viewer but like people in his orbit?
January 16, 2026 at 2:49 AM
They see it as the ultimate power move, a giant fuck you to western liberalism.
January 16, 2026 at 2:41 AM
are therefore bad, as are the institutions that celebrate such things. Only a loser would actually put in the work to earn it. But acquiring a Peace Prize with violence and coercion? Bombing a nation and having its rightful democratically elected leader come groveling and just hand it to you?

I have a different take on the psychology here: He and his followers know it’s absurd, and that’s part of the flex. It’s a dark cosmic joke to normal humans, but to them it’s an expression of power. Personal sacrifice, moral leadership, serving a greater cause—these are signs of weakness and…

Of course. I’m just saying there’s no meaningful recourse for an undocumented person whose 4th amendment rights have been violated. They are subject to removal regardless of how they are apprehended. And thus ICE/CBP have no incentive to conduct themselves appropriately.

The major exploit here is that no amount of government misconduct can result in a change to one’s immigration status, unlike in a criminal case where evidence can be excluded, etc. And the mechanisms to seek redress for unreasonable searches and seizures are simply not accessible.

This shit could use some work
January 13, 2026 at 3:06 AM
I expect they’ll establish a tenuous connection to some activist group and decline to charge Ross on that basis, effectively legalizing excessive force against anyone else who can be connected to such a group
January 13, 2026 at 2:21 AM
It will get dumber. Within a week, the White House, cabinet, and all of right-wing media will be routinely referring to him as a Nobel Peace Prize recipient

I have come to understand that it’s not interventionism if it occurs within the appropriate hemisphere
January 5, 2026 at 4:42 PM
Unrelated, but you were right about Counterpart. Appreciate the rec

I’m starting to think they’re not approaching the document release in good faith

What kills me about the take is the fundamental misunderstanding of democratic systems. They are inefficient by design. It’s the inherent trade-off to provide checks on those who would abuse their power. This is decidedly not how a liberal democracy functions.

Doctors only administer the Montreal assessment three times if they think you’re super strong in terms of cognitive

This is sweet. We should totally put it in charge of Medicare

From DOD’s own law of war manual. Amazingly it uses the example of firing upon survivors of a shipwreck as an example of an illegal order that must not be followed.
