30-something guy here looking to replace my MySpace.
I think Series X was $350 2 Black Fridays ago and I shrugged it off as someone with mild interest, figuring I'd see it back there after not long. lol, I was very wrong. With the Steam Machine dropping to give me living room Halo without online fees, I probably won't upgrade my XB1 at this point.

Maybe my useless disc copies of Overwatch and Rocket League will be worth something one day. Rocket League at least has some utility because you can play an older version of it offline using the disc.

I assume at some point in my life I will face an obvious medical bankruptcy scenario, I'm hoping to get enough squirrelled away in creditor protected (401k/IRA) accounts by then for it to not completely bury me.

Yeah, I thought S1 was awesome and I didn't even get through half of season 2. Just such a huge drop-off. Most shows that start off excellent eventually drop-off, but usually not so much so soon.

And I think it gets a lot of undue hate for people missing the original cast. I think it was a great season. IMO, better than at least the last 2 seasons of the show with the original cast. It had gotten a little stale.

I dabbled in playing a keyboard, could play a couple full songs. I think I quit for 6 months, and I couldn't remember how to play anything when I got in front of a piano. I regularly take months off from playing guitar, and it feels like riding a bike. Everything comes back quickly.

On the subject, I do wonder in general how long you can set down the guitar and still play roughly most things you already could. It's a really physical instrument with a lot of very distinct muscle memory as opposed to something like the piano.

I don't mean outright abuse, I mean the way people put pressure on the sticks or something during gameplay seems to lead to bad outcomes.
November 20, 2025 at 7:32 PM
I've only been using a S/X controller for 2 years though. What absolutely does go bad with Xbox controllers is the stick rubber, it loses grip and gets deformed over time. Also, one of my Xbox One controllers eventually had the bumper snap clean off during gameplay, but that was like after 9 years.
November 20, 2025 at 6:16 PM
I feel like the common stick drift issue is almost individual to how people use controllers. Like, it's crazy how frequently some people experience it. I never had it happen to an Xbox One or Series S/X controller yet and I got an Xbox One 10 years ago and play it all the time.

tbf, pretty much all news outlets do this with high lottery jackpots. it's easy content. but yeah, it probably helps people discover gambling problems they didn't realize they had.

I was more thinking that design looks really bad to be in if you get t-boned.

It's usually called Surf Green. Real beach boys and cabana flowing with the waves kind of green, I see it.

Seems too soon. We still don't have live action Great Mouse Detective and that came out nearly 40 years ago. Would love to see Dwayne Johnson or Timothee Chalamet be a mouse.

I once felt so lost in regards to what to ask for haircut-wise, I brought in my 8th grade school ID when I was in my twenties.

The most compelling part to me is the size. There just isn't much of a pre-built mini market with notable gaming capabilities. Or even half-tower size. ASUS makes a gaming PC the size of a modem, but that starts at like $1200. You can get a decent pre-built gaming tower for like $500 these days.
November 13, 2025 at 2:41 AM
The one glaring downside to me as primarily a console gamer is the lack of physical games. I prefer buying them, especially if it's a new, full-price game.
November 12, 2025 at 10:16 PM
It's basically the exact thing I want as long as the price isn't too crazy. I don't really have room for a tower, and my gaming laptop experience is that they have annoying overheating issues. With even Sony putting old exclusives on PC now, you're gaining more than you're missing.

I loved this song ever since I heard it in "The Girl Next Door" like 20 years ago.

I never really got far into that show, but the bit with Bubbles throwing shopping carts down a hill to steal and sell was the funniest shit. "These carts are public domain, Ricky."

Makes sense being surrounded by enormous lakes, but I woulda guessed Maine. When I think Maine, I think lobsters and lighthouses.

Some stereotypes seem to stand out, like Chrysler has awful reliability and Euro brands are maintenance money pits to own in the US.

I have a 2013 Kia that I've been very happy with, but yeah, I have read some mixed things about recent years. On the other hand, I feel like EVERY car I specifically look up, there's a commonly reported problem, so you kinda gotta do a rough risk assessment.
November 3, 2025 at 3:22 PM
I've had a Kia for many years and take terrible care of it and have had zero problems. I think Hyundai-Kia is documented as really upping their game around 2010ish, their older cars supposedly had a lot of reliability issues.
