I'm a game designer, a game player, and a collector and explorer of imaginative worlds.
I love DnD. But it's a game of webs, so many interconnected pieces it weighs down any non-memorized, non-practiced rules. Nimble still has webs, but less and lighter webs. Been reading Nimble all day and started jotting down notes for a new campaign specifically for it. Exciting!

Oh no! But in a good way! I was gifted the Nimble 2 ttrpg and now really want to try it out. But tomorrow I'm running my dnd campaign. But new shiny game is calling to meeeee!

Nimble 2 seems pretty awesome, very dnd but made to keep players engaged even when it's not their turn in combat. Yay!

Just finished Outer Worlds 2! Satisfying throughout and I appreciate the Fallout-ish ending that shows you the results of so many of your choices throughout the game. But instead of jumping in again and making different choices, I'm going to find a new obsession for a little while :)

Unreal 5.7 releasing means I'm going to redo my 5.6 practice project in 5.7. I'll cut the chaff and make it better, cleaner, and I'll lock in some more of that knowledge! You know, hopefully!

Been rereading Ultraviolet Grasslands 2nd edition a bit. It has a tasty "anti-canon" approach to worldbuilding and some very crazy locations. There's a gap between the world and running it that I'd like to investigate by trying to run it. Maybe the followup "Our Golden Age" will solve it.

I've been wanting to try Voidtrain for a long time. I'm not really in a position to buy new games right now, but luckily I still have gamepass for a while and Voidtrain just showed up on it! Sorry Outer Worlds 2, gotta take a break and do Voidtrain stuff for a bit.

I finished everything I wanted to do with my Unreal practice this week, with doors and locks and power, so I spent some extra time practicing level design and creation and then slammed my face into animations, which I have almost no experience in, and decided to stop for now :p

In Unreal 5, setting up nav links on a door bp to handle navigation depending on if a door is open or not was surprisingly easy. Next up, a system based in blueprint interfaces for handling objects that need or give power. But the siren's call of Outer Worlds 2 is trying to pull me off course!

Today's Unreal self training involves doors. Ah, doors, the poster child for how making games is harder than it seems. Open away from player? Check! Locked makes it wiggle? Check! Keys that open designated doors? Check! Navmesh through doorways? That's the next can of worms.

Outer Worlds 2 is pretty darn good. I can feel it pulling at my attention while I'm trying to do other things. I have DnD to prep for, other games to play, books to read, things to learn, and a job hunt to focus on, Outer Worlds 2! Can you get your hooks out of my brain for a few hours?

Happy Halloween! Play, watch, read, and/or dress up as something spooky and have spooky fun! Every other Friday, friends of mine from my last job get on discord and stream games we're all playing to each other, so I'll pick something spooky to play for that :)

My DnD campaign finished its 7th real session last week. I hear that's the average length of a campaign, but it feels like we're just getting started! Mainly it's an excuse to get together and also to try out Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting. Fun stuff!

OH! Powerwash Simulator 2 is out?

Well goodbye for at least a few hours...if not days...if not longer...gotta get my relaxation on.

I ran the Monty Python ttrpg the other week. It was absurd and chaotic and hilarious, as it should be. We all had to stand up for 29 minutes when "the pope tuned in" to the adventure, and a penguin took over the episode. Very fun, not suited for campaign play though. May do it again someday.

While I enjoy lots of different genres and games, I’m personally drawn towards weird, surreal settings. From TTRPGs like Ultraviolet Grasslands to videogames like Superliminal, and now The Keeper, their worlds forcefully grab my attention. Keeper's world feels born from a cauldron of creativity.
