Well, all those ‘checks and balances’ seem to have got lost at the back of a drawer. Turns out it only needs one creep to put two fingers up to the whole document and it falls flat.

It’s hard to see a way back from this (indeed, from the last few months). It’s like losing a much-loved relative to a dreadful affliction like Alzheimer’s. We have all read predictions of the fall of the US to fascism, but we never thought we’d actually live to see it.

Mine wasn’t in the house - we’ve got a covered external porch, so it was fine. I don’t think fir trees harbour many insects within their foliage, and I haven’t noticed any grubs within the pot itself. I’ll see how it does at the allotment….the summer drought may do for it. Nice little tree tho’.

I’ve heard reports that it was once a useful guardian of the rights of the people, and mitigated the over-stretched ambitions of a bloated Presidency. Is that no longer true.

So, we’re in the two-week euphoric post-operation phase (back-slapping, matcho, wasn’t it great on tv?) but soon comes the “how do we actually run Venezuela from afar “ ? Who is actually going to take over those oil fields?
