UK. Old. Atheist. Liberal-minded, tolerant. Allergic to right-wing bigotry and most religion. Like books, music, theatre, history, arts in general. Like Europe and European culture.
Solovyov is the nutcase who insisted that Russia could polish off all of Europe after the triumph of the Special Military Operation.

After all the in-depth research done by the ERG - it’s unbelievable.

Why are there always so MANY of them
? They need an audit by DOGE.

How is this securing the Border ?

This is so inhumane. Cameron Kasky has recently visited the West Bank and posted (on Instagram I think) heartbreaking reports on the sadistic treatment of the Palestinians by the barbaric state-sanctioned settlers and the IDF

Exactly. The whole thing depended on honourable, learned, gentlemen. Obviously no longer fit for purpose!

Well, all those ‘checks and balances’ seem to have got lost at the back of a drawer. Turns out it only needs one creep to put two fingers up to the whole document and it falls flat.

Yes. How right we were when we woke up that fateful November morning - American democracy was fatefully in the balance, with the tip already on the downside. The effects would be global - what on earth had 77 million Americans been unable to comprehend ?

Cut and paste it - it’ll make great reading

It’s a shame that this “superpower” (?!) wasn’t more ready for its war with it’s largely unprotected neighbour. What a rusty, chaotic joke Russia is.

“foul and most unnatural murder" - Hamlet.

Wouldn’t we be THRILLED if any school kids wanted to read Plato ?
January 8, 2026 at 8:25 PM
What on earth justified pulling a gun out on a woman driving a car ? What potential crime had this ‘agent’ got in mind that the woman was likely to commit ?
It’s hard to believe how much lower this Administration can sink .

It’s hard to see a way back from this (indeed, from the last few months). It’s like losing a much-loved relative to a dreadful affliction like Alzheimer’s. We have all read predictions of the fall of the US to fascism, but we never thought we’d actually live to see it.

There really, really, is only one - quite clear - account.
January 8, 2026 at 7:41 PM
Have these Companies been handed the keys to the Venezuelan oilfields already?
January 6, 2026 at 7:28 AM
Mine wasn’t in the house - we’ve got a covered external porch, so it was fine. I don’t think fir trees harbour many insects within their foliage, and I haven’t noticed any grubs within the pot itself. I’ll see how it does at the allotment….the summer drought may do for it. Nice little tree tho’.

Get your drift. If it gets too big it’s for the chop.

I’ve heard reports that it was once a useful guardian of the rights of the people, and mitigated the over-stretched ambitions of a bloated Presidency. Is that no longer true.
January 4, 2026 at 7:51 PM
I bought a live Christmas tree in a pot. Moving it to the allotment for next year. Beat that for self-righteousness (no, I’m not vegan)
January 4, 2026 at 7:48 PM
So, we’re in the two-week euphoric post-operation phase (back-slapping, matcho, wasn’t it great on tv?) but soon comes the “how do we actually run Venezuela from afar “ ? Who is actually going to take over those oil fields?
This is going to be the Iraq fiasco times ten.

Elections are so last year. Who needs them, in the brave new post-democratic Trumpian world.
