Thanks for responding in-kind, kindly! I understand where you're coming from, I definitely do, but I just don't think it helps us to publicly put down the appearance of the frog n co considering the media landscape we're in and the resistance we are trying to collectivize. Absolutely, yes, labor organizing and striking have the potential to far more deeply and meaningfully shift our systems towards a more equitable and just horizon than a few frogsuiters. But with what is happening right now, a war waged in spectacle, there is absolutely a necessary piece to be played by both the optics and the actions of those showing up in costume or peaceful protest, like the pastor in Chicago to share another example mentioned ITT, and I do see that piece doing important work, sabotaging to whatever degree it does the fascist attempts to paint a certain picture. Unfortunately, a wave of frogs gurbstomping cops isn't going to deliver a better result with how the systems are rigged right now, with their current ~war strategy~, and with where we're at in organizing in opposition. And I don't see picking apart in public posting that piece these protestors play as doing liberation any favors, while it does indeed open the door to negative consequences. I think this time would be better spent directing our energy to the work we think *is* important and materially productive to be done, rather than complain about parts of the resistance movement not looking like how we'd ideally want liberation to look, and that is what I mainly want to point to in pushing back on this post being made the way it was.

I don’t see where that gets us, ‘cept adding to the shame or uncertainty that keeps people from acting.

It’s scary for me to say this because I don’t want disharmony with you (of course!), but for that reason: in hopes of serving our unity and the unity of the greater good, I’m speaking on what I see, that I feel you’ve missed.
I appreciate you sharing more context for where this post was coming from, I agree in not fucking with it be turned into an avenue for consumerism but I need to point out: That is not the point your original post declares, it lacks the nuance you carry on with here. And that nuance is important: your original post, a broad "hot take," is an unhelpful expression of annoyance that in my eyes, is a bad look. It's not constructive, and its lack of clarity has the potential to be damaging, let alone that it feels disparaging to someone we've witnessed be literally brutalized. To me, that is a disappointing and destructive exercise of "not having ears*, personally more upsetting than some teens or whoever posting affiliate links on TikTok or whatever you go on to explain is the real locus of your frustration (Hey at least if somebody is in the costume out there, it's doing something more useful than posting a divisive hot take. We should be doing all we can to avoid doing the oppressor's work for them, y'know? And this teeters on that line to me.). As someone not exposed to that chute of content, and (whether | had been or not) fairly taking your original post at its word, it just reads in poor taste: a post for the sake of posting, a falling for a social media trap akin to the one you've encountered that was a source for annoyance- but in this case instead of chasing the consumerist clout instinct social media breeds— it's chasing the compulsion to broadcast a "hot take" responsive to social media's trends vying for relevancy; and in doing so, is losing the plot. But right now in this political moment, we have the responsibility to face that "poor taste" in this circumstance is not the end of things, and this sort of thing has the potential for greater consequences. I believe the stakes are too high, with real bodies on the line- including the original frog's, as we've seen for that misstep to go without critique like I'm sharing here. Ok, I guess i delivered a lot of my thoughts now instead of later… I truly do feel like this is too important to not visibly and coherently counter here.
They control a massive propaganda machine that is on overdrive, and has already fomented dangerous consequences with its influence. They are relying on it to let them grab more power. Inserting visual tokens that can’t be removed and so absurdly contrast the story they are trying to tell (and have the power if not checked by stunts like the frog, etc); is very much so throwing a clog in the machine— their most powerful. Like, filming any encounter w ICE is also very important. But so much of that footage is easy enough to ignore and dispose, is never going to grace the places they are feeding their audience propaganda, for obvious reasons. So ya gotta understand something like the Portland site is literally being used as a soundstage to try and concoct propaganda videos they *can* use. They are bringing conservative influencers in to film, they have camera guys following ICE to try and grab any footage that can be manipulated into a spectacle of chaos and two-way violence they are the “good guys” to control. And thus, having a big green frog, flowers in fists; on your enemy’s “frontline” pokes massive holes in the visual and narrative credibility they are absolutely relying on right now to try and push their agenda. It is quite literally disarming them when their principal weapon is spectacle, is propaganda. And that is the most effective and powerful first step towards resisting authoritarianism; much more so than other reactions you may understandably be feeling are deserved. But this is our reality, where right now, to prank and to come in peace, is leagues more powerful than to provoke. This cannot be understated, this current moment of nonviolent resistance is a matter of preserving our freedoms and our lives. I hope you’ll reconsider your take with this perspective shared, and that going forward we can all put our energy towards heating up the takes and actions that will help us strengthen resistance, not diminish it.

Last night’s therapeutic art of to-night’s therapeutic jaunt to the gay bar.
Lavender wolfthing rem leans against a dive bar counter, holding a green glass bottle beer and looking nonchalant, if not weary. It’s wearing a fishnet muscle tank crop top and a shiny black jock.
