Let's imagine that GM is forced to fire everyone hired in the past 2 years. Cars and trucks stop rolling off the assembly lines because some of the thousands of things that have to be done to build cars and trucks are not being done. That is not efficiency. It's a surgeon with a chainsaw. #DOGE

On C-SPAN Washington Journal, US Comptroller General, head of the GAO, says that the DOGE mass firings are not the best way to achieve efficiency. It would be better to first determine which functions of government should be targeted for reduction or elimination, then adjust staffing accordingly.

The federal payroll consumes less than 6% of the federal budget. Workers are being fired not to save money, but to disable our government, the only entity on the planet which can stand up to the oligarchs.
