For many years I thought goldfinches migrated to warmer climates in the fall. Then I learned they just change color to a dull green over the winter. They turn gold again in the spring.

How good it is to see a bright spot of hope for at least several pets while emergency assistance crews and organizations rally to help the families who lost lives and homes in this tragedy.

Sounds just like our childhood pup! When a neighbor's gentle Newfie plopped himself down in our yard, Inky ran circles around him barking furiously. No reaction at all from Teddy the Newfie, who soon got tired of being yelled at, got up and ambled off.

We briefly had a treat-filled puzzle cube for one of our dogs (not a herding breed but just as smart!) She used it, but it was hard molded plastic and made a tremendous racket while she rolled it around the floor and into walls. Wish it had been made of something softer and rubbery.
