And yes, the yellow minerals are radioactive. While they're not particularly dangerous, this one's emitting enough radiation that if I held it in my hand for a couple of minutes, I would get roughly the same radiation dose as I would if I got an X-ray of that hand.

I grew up in Los Alamos so it shouldn't be much of a surprise to find out that I have a collection of uranium ore samples. Many of them I picked up while exploring abandoned uranium mines near my home - within 1-2 hours' drive.
