All in all, it's a well written (mostly), awesome action packed adventure that is approachable from newcomers and oldies alike.
My current feelings are very similar to the first Castlevania season, I am intrigued, impressed and optimistically waiting to see if this goes well!

All in all, it's a well written (mostly), awesome action packed adventure that is approachable from newcomers and oldies alike.

It is both confusing and INSULTINGLY stupid to use NERO's song Devil Trigger for DANTE's first Devil Trigger, when the voice acting situation is already making DmC fans really fucking confused.
On top of that the full transformation should've been saved for the final fight, see my reaction below.

I hate to say this but the music REALLY sucks here, outside of generic metal tracks which I actually enjoyed as they sound like the games.
The redux's of classic tracks were already strange but FUCK all the copyrighted music in this show, based on a game series known for it's insane og music.

The 'Am I even watching the right show' childlike wonder for the White Rabbit's backstory, are a testament to the creativity of the artists on this show.

But I save the best for last and without question Hoon Lee steals the show as a charismatic and heartbreakingly broken White Rabbit!
As much as I love the rest of the cast, any other villain and this show would be coasting on a 5 or 6/10, seriously this is by far the best villain for me is all DmC.

Chris Coppola is a surprisingly fun supporting character in Enzo and it's a shame he won't be returning because he is the kind of character that I think brought the right kind of humor when on screen.

Whoever wrote all the fucks into Scout's lines for Lady needs a talking to, because her performance as a questioning military lady caught between her morals and duty is felt more and more in such a perfect performance throughout, chef's kiss to Lady, B- to her writers.

Speaking of, the casting here is incredible.
Obviously the big hubub is about Johnny (aka Dante), I will admit there are a lot of times I REALLY hear the Nero in his voice, but I do think he distinguishes him as Dante for the most of the show (even if the reference humor is a tad bit overbearing)

The flaws around Lady are twofold:
She has some really annoying Mary Sue moments...
And her dialogue can genuinely sound like a 12 year old edgelord edited the script just before it got to Scout.
However these issues are only really hamfisted in the first few episodes.

While I wish Dante's backstory was fleshed out ala First Circle to make it more interesting, I believe we'll see more in Season Two purely based on the ending of season 1, given what was revealed will help that backstory have more relevance.

The best episode is very obviously First Circle, it's a breathtaking change of pace that elevates an already mind blowing villain to great heights (probably the best DmC villain period). It also was great for characterizing Lady, who I care immensely about, which was only intensified here.

Is the Devil May Cry Netflix Anime perfect? Definitely not!
Are most of the problems frontloaded to the first three episodes? Yes!
Is it faithful to the games? No and Adi is a liar on that front.
Is it a compelling story loosely based on the game that I want to keep watching? Abso-fucking-lutely.
