This tintype bears tax stamps used to fund the Union in the Civil War. The band features a 5-string banjo, 2 violins, and a classical guitar, likely traveling musicians performing in homes and theatres.

On Nov 23, 1936, Robert Johnson held his first recording session in Room 414 of the Gunter Hotel, San Antonio, TX. He recorded classics like "Terraplane Blues," "Dust My Broom," "Sweet Home Chicago," "Ramblin' On My Mind," and "Come On In My Kitchen."
