Yes it was quite a challenge. The Spectrum delivered a sense of achievement before you even started playing. You felt it when your typed-in magazine code actually worked, or when you coaxed a worn cassette to load after two failed attempts on a cheap tape deck. :-)

It did however manage to create a text based Python version that was probably worse than the original.
I still played it. And still gleaned a little joy.
