Charles Darwin was born in 1809. He'd have been 7 years old the year the two poets, Mary Shelley and others were writing 'ghost stories', and 9 years old when the novel was published. I guess it was more likely that the two discussed Erasmus Darwin (whose poem on evolution was published in 1803).

I was struck by the claim that Mary Shelly drew inspiration for "Frankenstein" from listening to Percy Shelley and Byron discuss Charles Darwin one night. Since "Frankenstein" (novel) was published in 1818 (and the short story version written in 1816) that seems ... unlikely.
