“Head of the Diadoumenos” A marble bust [black basalt (hair); giallo antico marble (head, neck and chest)] depicting a replica of the "Diadoumenos", an athlete in the act of binding his head with the victor's fillet, carved by Polycletus. The hair is from a classical statue which was repurposed for this 16th century stunner looking not unlike a 20th century Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa. “Portrait of a Young Man” [GEORG PENCZ 1544, oil on panel] A portrait of an eighteen year old man looking an awful lot like a young Mark Zuckerberg with a prominent and large bulge in his pants. Other noticeable elements include: the heavy red silk satin and the gold doublet are embellished with sophisticated, fashionable slashes. The setting, with its few architectural elements, and the figure against an angle to increase depth echo Bronzino's works.
