I'm here too I guess.
Finished The Excavation of Hob's Barrow. Excellent point-and-click Victorian horror with a smidge of Lovecraft. Feels like an Eggers film at times. Fully recommended for slow, cosy horror fans. I comment @cloakanddaggerg.bsky.social and can't wait for their next game.

Just finished reading the Hall of Records in The Neverhood.

I love this game and its enormous lore wall.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is such a cool game. Following the guy who killed your whole clan into the afterlife, so then you can join forces with your entire dead clan to raid his fortress is just the raddest thing you can imagine.

Adventure game masterpieces. Wish Kojima went back to making these kinds of games.

Aaaaaand finished Herdling. Beautiful journey from beginning to end, always with a sense of worry over the flock. Amazing achievement.

I love how beautiful Herdling is. Fantastic job from @okomotive.ch.

It must be the work of Robbie Rotten.

Finished Princess Peach: Showtime. While a game that's much simpler in design than Nintendo's usual core titles, it's still very impressive on its variety of styles and gimmicks, and it delivers a ton of fun with the theater play sets. Hoping more Peach games can be made.

I'm hoping to see more games from @juliaminamata.bsky.social in the future. Give the game a chance, because it's the kind of gem you won't find anywhere else these days.

The art is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in a game of this style and all of it makes for a very rewarding experience.

The characters are all very charming and a perfect fit for a classic mystery story. Motivations are set clearly, variety abounds, and the design and scale the game allows for is a perfect mix of welcoming and deep.

Due to this, dispite having bought The Crimson Diamond on launch day, I wanted to get to it while appreciating its main inspiration. And the game is EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE with the level of detail and precision it allows from a player.

The Colonel's Bequest is a murder investigation game from 1989 based on Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". While it impressively boasts an ongoing mystery where multiple investigative routes are possible, it took me a while to play it with the respect it deserves.

I've just completed something I've been meaning to do for over a year: My playthrough of The Crimson Diamond by @juliaminamata.bsky.social. An amazing investigation adventure game in a classic style. I played The Colonel's Bequest right before so I could properly appreciate the style.

Played s.p.l.i.t. by @mikeklubnika.bsky.social
. A short, amazing experience full of industrial dread. Mike's a master at these small snippets of nightmare worlds in bursts of dispair. Fully recommended, it's two fifty on Steam at launch.

It's hard to talk about the game without spoilers, but I'll just say that the ending is one of my favourite game ending moments ever. The scale, scope and most of all personality is downright impressive.

I love how respectful the game manages to be to the entire DK legacy as well as building upon it in a spectacular way. Every bit as impressive as one of the massive Zelda titles and a tremendous improvement upon Odyssey.

Finished Donkey Kong Bananza. Beautiful, delightful experience. Love how they've revitalised DK for a brand new age. He could surpass Mario as Nintendo's symbol with the amount of charisma he oozes in this adventure. Switch 2 also handling itself really well with crazy physics.
July 25, 2025 at 8:08 AM
Death Stranding 2 instantly having Cyborg Ninjas and a huge bunch of Metal Gear elements and being a vast improvement upon 1, makes me feel like Kojima finally learned to give in. He is that guy, and being that guy is the coolest thing ever.

Bless GOG's new mod system. Gotta love it.

They're crazily well-written to the point where River entirely won me over with his hokey Fast & Furious family big lug personality. First time in any RPG.
June 16, 2025 at 11:02 PM
Finished all the cups in Mario Kart World! Loved the game as an intro to what the new Switch 2 generation has to offer from Nintendo. Lots of attention to details, from the music to the tracks.

I hope Capcom keeps putting out these remasters. Onimusha 3 is a personal favorite of mine and playing it again outside of an emulator or setting it up on the PS2 would be a delight.
