I don’t have the study at hand but as I recall the argument was that blue dogs outperformed and that more voters saw Harris as extreme over Trump and that was evidence of a need to lean right.

How that aligns with Biden or Obama is more unclear.

I don’t disagree with the manufactured consent argument.

I think they work in tandem.
March 14, 2025 at 1:13 PM
My point is not that Harris was good, but that Trump was clearly more extreme in rhetoric

My argument is that it’s the repositioning of preconceived notions of peoples’ own “moderateness” that defines moderate politics not the other way around.

People pick a vote then decide that’s the middle

Im deeply opposed to how the Dems have been brutal towards immigrants.

But your response to me implies that people voted for Trump because they thought he was more moderate on immigration which is bananas. His whole platform was 19th century xenophobia and nativism.
March 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM
The Dems have been running on Republican policies on immigration and privatization for my entire adult life.

In return the republicans ran to the right. They ran on Mass Deportations and 19th century economic isolationism. Where do you “moderate” with those issues?
March 14, 2025 at 12:48 PM
What issues?

On the items that people claimed mattered (economy and immigration) Trump was far more extreme.

So unless you mean she didn’t want to ban trans girls from sports I have no idea what issues you mean.

In other news, her dog has been really hungry lately and ate her homework! Can you believe it!
March 14, 2025 at 11:31 AM
The concept of “moderating” is meaningless because it’s entirely subjective

People went out and said Harris was more extreme than Trump. In a world where that can happen the concept of moderation is meaningless

Being moderate and being perceived as moderate are not the same and that’s what matters

Richard Hanania is also a raging racist and eugenicist who helped bring about the current moment.

So let us not assume he shares this in anything other than the most evil of faiths
March 14, 2025 at 11:03 AM
Except they aren’t eating his face. He’s living in a country that is actually attempting to punish its coup plotting president.

Remember that any time Glenn attempts to meddle in American politics he’s doing it from a very expensive house in Rio.

I mean also, Ted killed a woman and got rewarded with a long career in the senate for it.

So not only did he deny us healthcare by being too selfish to retire but he directly killed a woman and got two months in prison and a life of wealth and power as a result
March 14, 2025 at 10:26 AM
He’s both Charlie Brown and Lucy. Somehow pulling the ball away and also falling on his ass.

It would be impressive if it weren’t so pathetic
March 14, 2025 at 10:21 AM
As opposed to the last three months when the admin has been measured and careful?
March 14, 2025 at 10:14 AM
“Hard left”

Last I checked there aren’t any Communists in congress.

I was proud to vote for JB and finally end Rauner’s incompetence. Don’t insult our intelligence by shifting the Overton window especially right now.

You can praise conservative Dems without pretending they don’t exist.

I was making a joke reference to a bit from the tv show Community.

I can excuse Twitter, but I draw the line at Neera Tanden
March 14, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Spend five minutes on his Wikipedia page and you’ll get enough to know what he means.

Any academic who associates with him deserves to be outed and ousted
March 14, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Let this not distract us from the fact that Richard himself is a racist white nationalist who has remained in the good graces of academia despite denouncing interracial marriage and promoting eugenics.
March 14, 2025 at 3:18 AM
It’s a sabotage on the level that can only be explained by complicity.

I don’t see how he could be this incompetent and that leaves only malice.
March 14, 2025 at 3:14 AM
Has anyone asked the Baileys how they feel? Won’t someone think of the Baileys!
March 13, 2025 at 11:12 PM
I think the apology was directed to us.
March 13, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Works doing a lot of heavy lifting
March 13, 2025 at 6:19 PM
Democratic Party leaders, consultants, and donors who Harris listened to rather than building off the momentum of her initial entry into the race.
March 13, 2025 at 1:14 PM
If they had let him do this last year he very might well have been.

But he came too close to making people hope for a real change to our society to help the people in it and the Dems couldn’t allow that

The infamous river fire was the Cuyahoga not the Ohio but hey maybe this time it’ll be a two-for-one kind of deal.
