A guess: it might be less that they don’t have the energy to care, but rather that they think your precautions are excessive/unnecessary, but don’t say that out loud.

I actually shouldn’t sound so aghast at a PUE over 2. I’ve run datacenters with cooling costs that high - it’s just that they were terrible datacenters that I had no business running :)
