Really enjoyed Keith Knight’s talk at ATA last night. He used to volunteer at ATA in the 90s, so he showed us some of his old videos, then played one of my favorite episodes of “Woke”.

A productive day! I made some salmon rice bowls for the week, and some candles for friends, and I quietly added new #yoyo to doctorpopular.com
Some glass jars and bowls filled with brown rice, pickled radishes, salmon, cilantro, and mushrooms. Two small jars that have wicks sticking out of them. The jars are Foy By Jing brand chili oil jars that have been cleaned and now have candle wax inside of them. Three plastic yo-yos. Two are red and black, one is a clear polycarbonate.

Made my own mala style spice mix for some stir-fried numbing potatoes. I love how it turned out.
Two small bowls filled with cooked fingerling potatoes. The potatoes are covered with a brown spice mix. There’s also a small jar filled with the home made spice mix.

La Cruzada Guadalupana Pilgrimage, the annual walk from South San Francisco to St. Mary’s Cathedral in #sanfrancisco, is happening now. Around 10,000 people are expected to take part.

Stir fried veggies and tofu for lunch. Added some nopales to the veggies (onions, pepper, and mushrooms) and I liked the result.
A plate of white rice, fried tofu, and cooked veggies. The tofu has a golden color which contrasts nicely with the other ingredients.

I drew this toon a few years ago, back when I was making WordPress/OS themed cartoons for TorqueMag (owned by WPE). The first version was drawn in 2014, but I made a few updated versions of it over the years. That was a fun gig!

More sketches in my Monster Pocket Doodles sketchbook. The black lines were pre-printed.
An open sketchbook with pink and blue drawings in it. The page on the left is a heart with legs and arms. The heart appears to be crying. The page on the right is a couple of floating orbs with bridges spreading between them. Ants are travelling across the bridge, and parts of the bridge appear to become 2 dimensional and flip (similar to MC Escher's moebius strip with ants). These drawings are mostly pink and blue, with a few parts on each page that are black. The black parts were pre-printed on the paper like a prompt for artists to work from. The same sketchbook as in my previous photo, but this is how it looked before I drew in it. One page has some black lines that look like antlers. The other page has something that looks like ants climbing out of an anthill.

Relatedly, I saw some recent activity inside the old Arinell Pizza spot on Valencia Street. First time I’ve seen anything happening there since Arinell closed in 2022.
The front door is open at the old Arinell Pizza joint. There appears to be construction happening inside. The windows are covered with graffiti and stickers and the shop has been closed for 3 or 4 years. A view of Arinell Pizza's old sign on Valencia Street.
