I am currently a dept chair, about to end a 3+1 term in 67 days. Yes there is a countdown app on my phone.

The longer I was in those roles, the worse I felt. I couldn't formulate a single creative thought, not a funny quip, not the energy to even scroll and retweet.

I had entered administrative roles and found myself suddenly overwhelmed and mentally and physically taxed to the point where I couldn't generate anything meaningful to contribute to a conversation.
