It might be trying to download the latest Proton Compatibility layer from steam. That’s what let’s windows programs run on Linux.
Usually the first boot of a game takes a bit for that to all settle in. Sometimes a proper restart after downloading everything sets it right.

I haven’t played around with Unraid. Most of what I learned came from setting up a Raspberry Pi running Raspian (Debian) to be a NAS, Media Server, and Piracy Machine.
Eventually that experience gave me the confidence to go full Linux on my desktop.

You are 100% right! The Linux community sucks. You really gotta learn everything the hard way.
I switched to Linux Mint two years ago and have been gaming with no issues.
Two things I’ve learned though:
1. Linux is easier with all AMD hardware.
2. Default Bluetooth manager sucks.

I really looked up to Penn as a young man. But he seemed to be going down the libertarian to conspiracy theorist rabbit hole a few years back.
