The way to whole system is slanted in a way to disadvantage women. Super inequity is not just pay gap, the structural problems lay deeper than that - more likely to be part time, more likely to career breaks to take care of family (both children and parents), more likely to have insecure work.

Reading it I had same feeling “based on the life of….” Had to remember it wasn’t true.

But also back to @snarkyplatypus.com comments - I skipped over big portions too.

I’ve got a massive soft spot for Cryptonomicon. Imagine what the world could have been.

Oh Absolutely- it’s become so automatic for us - we forget that we had to learn to be organised.

Work (mine is at MacDonalds) has been an absolute game changer about remembering calenadars, washing uniforms, shaving etc. I wasn’t super keen on sending to work but it’s been so good for him.

My son is same age and he does this sort of stuff all the time. It blows my mind - I’ll do anything including work for free rather than ask questions or be organised. I like to think I wasn’t this unfocused at thrips age but my mum tells me I was.

Coming to this late but I have a massive love “for Faerie, Queen and Country” by TSR. It was part of their amazing engine system that wasn’t anything special (although it did allow you to move PCs from one distinct universe to another) but this universe was a fun blend of Victorian England and Fae.
