Remind me to tell you about the time I dreamt a reflection of a much older version of myself was hovering above me, our noses touching. I was frozen, terrified, & staring her eye to eye. Once I could move I bolted out a door, leapt over a large collection of cactus, & woke standing nude in my yard.

I have a recurring dream that I am in a field and a UFO is landing. I run and it follows me. As it comes closer, I look up and see the belly of UFO is shiny like a mirror. I can see my own reflection distorted in a metallic grid. Then a flush of existential euphoria wakes me up. Go into the light!

When Carolee Schneemann died in March 2019, I was at a conference in Dallas. I couldn’t pay attention, so I skipped out for JFK conspiracy tourism. I made chitchat with an old man selling DVDs at the grassy knoll and recognized him from The Men Who Killed Kennedy TV series. Her grave today, perfect.

When I was little, I’d pretend to be interviewed by Johnny Carson while on the toilet, pants around my ankles. I’d gesture to my left, tell him funny stories, and practice my eye rolls for audience approval. Here’s a pic of Alice Neel on the show—she told him, “You look so human, I was surprised.” ❤️
