Smell: Scented candles can turn any session into a pine covered forest or a delicious bakery (I enjoy @cantripcandles.bsky.social ).
Taste: Having a sea-faring adventure? Maybe some salmon is appropriate. Are your adventurers camping out in a cold winter environment, sounds like its stew for you!

Passion/hobbies isn’t much different and if anything easier in my mind. Always time to learn a new skill or pick up something new (saying this as someone who’s picked up several hobbies in my 40s).

I think if it’s financially possible then age/time shouldn’t hold you back. Obviously you can’t just drop/quit what you’re doing Willy nilly but if there are ways to switch paths slowly or still earn a stable income (which might be less) then don’t let fear of the unknown stop you.
