OpenAl says it has found evidence that Chinese artificial intelligence start-up DeepSeek used the US company's proprietary models to train its own open-source competitor, as concerns grow over a potential breach of intellectual property. The San Francisco-based ChatGPT maker told the Financial Times it had seen some evidence of "distillation", which it suspects to be from DeepSeek. Distillation is a common practice in the industry but the concern was that DeepSeek may be doing it to build its own rival model, which is a breach of OpenAl's terms of service. "The issue is when you [take it out of the platform and] are doing it to create your own model for your own purposes," said one person close to OpenAI. OpenAl declined to comment further or provide details of its evidence. Its terms of service state users cannot "copy" any of its services or "use output to develop models that compete with OpenAI". DeepSeek's release of its Ri reasoning model has surprised markets, as well as investors and technology companies in Silicon Valley. Its built-on-a-shoestring models have attained high rankings and comparable results to leading US models. Shares in Nvidia fell 17 per cent on Monday, wiping $589bn off its market value, on fears that big investments in its expensive AI hardware might not be needed. They recovered by 9 per cent on Tuesday, along with other tech stocks.

Bug report: "What is the issue? A bug in the SSH integration feature caused input and output to be logged to a file on the remote host. This file, /tmp/framer.txt, may be readable by other users on the remote host. When does this occur? The issue occurs if both of the following conditions are true: 1. Either: a) You used the it2ssh command, or b) In Settings > Profiles > General, the Command popup menu was set to "SSH" (not "Login Shell", "Command", or "Custom Command") AND "SSH Integration" was checked in the SSH configuration dialog. That dialog is shown when you click the Configure button next to the ssh arguments field in Settings. 2. The remote host has Python 3.7 or later installed in its default search path. What should you do? * Upgrade immediately to version 3.5.11. * Delete /tmp/framer.txt on affected hosts. How I'm addressing this I deeply regret this mistake and will take steps to ensure it never happens again. The code to write to log files in SSH integration has been deleted and will not be publicly released again."

I know this is all a matter of preference but, personally, this actually doesn't bother me in the slightest. When I go to youtube I wanna watch what I wanna watch, not what youtube wants me to watch. I'm absolutely fine with this.
