Musk proclaimed that the only solutions to the national debt are AI and robotics. A quicker and simpler solution: wealthy people and corporations pay taxes like the rest of us.

Only one thing happens when you capitulate to a bully or hostage taker: they want more and then even more.

Trump makes Vogons look like high society sophisticates.

A functioning media would declare that being against antifa means, by definition, that you are pro-facist.

Trump declares a military dictatorship for blue cities. Just normal politics for Republicans, it seems.

Sorry NYT editorial board, not all of America mourns Kirk's death. I do not celebrate the killing but I can not mourn for such a hate spewing man.

I did not go to law school but I am guessing any 1st year law student making a serious argument that the government can just ignore the 4th Amendment would be invited to pursue a different career. Especially when the argument is based on racism and bigotry.

More media sane washing: CNN calling Trump's attack on the Fed unprecedented but saying he also will not go further. Have they learned nothing? That's rhetorical because they obviously have not.

Sad that a handful of Republicans in Congress could change the rush to dictatorship by joining Democrats. A little bit of courage goes a long way but that courage seems a long way away.

It is not an administration, it is a regime. They are incompetent at running government but good at cruelty and state violence.

Will Los Angeles be MAGA's reichstag event? Clearly, that is what Miller, Homan et al are hoping will happen. Trump will embrace the moment if it seems popular but deny any involvement otherwise.

@nedra1987.bsky.social Welcome, finally.

CNN headline that the administration used "questionable math" for the tariffs. Nothing questionable about it: bonkers math to support lies.

It's easy to laugh at the incompetency and stupidity of so many of the people in the Trump administration. However, Hitler and his people were not the best of the best but managed to start a world war and commit the Holocaust. Power in the hands of the incompetent is power used badly and cruelly.

I think the Musk/Trump regime want a recession. It will give them an excuse for austerity governance and wholesale privatization of the government. The oligarchs will not feel a recession while feasting on the pieces of the government being sold.

I am among those increasingly frustrated with Democratic leaders playing by the rules. At the same time, I recognize that if Democrats behaved like Republicans, the legacy media would go nuclear on them. Republicans ignore decency, morality, ethics, law at little to no consequence.

Trump tanking the American economy while saving Russia's. Interesting, no?

Well, I am so embarrassed to learn, after years of studying and teaching history, that World War II could have been avoided if only Chudchill had been nicer to Hitler.

The "long live the king" seems like a trial balloon aimed at MAGA world. It's one of the things Trump says that are a "joke" until it becomes real.

I hope everyone who did not vote for Harris because of Gaza is happy now. Context: Trump wants the USA to take over Gaza and relocate the Palestinians.

Every coup needs collaborators. Trump and Musk (maybe it's really Musk and Trump) have a Congress full of them and the right wing media keeping them in line.
February 4, 2025 at 5:11 PM
For Trump, Congress is just a bunch of building inspectors. Bribe them or ignore them, either way they are meaningless.
February 3, 2025 at 4:40 PM
All the demands for Senate Democrats to obstruct and fight louder miss the big picture. Trump and Musk do not care about Congress. Musk is conducting a digital coup while Trump is purging law enforcement. Congress is inconsequential unless a lot of Republicans find courage.
February 3, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Collaborators are essential for any authoritarian regime. Some are explicit by saying I don't agree with everything that is being done, but something must be done. Other are implicit by their silence or vague expressions of concern. Congress, especially the Senate, is full of collaborators.

If the House Republicans really want to investigate January 6th, I suggest having testimony under oath by Meadows, Jordan and all the others who refused previously. Not holding my breath.
