Big news at North High School! Students are eligible for a FREE 529 education savings account thanks to By Degrees Foundation. Students will receive up to $500 for meeting personal and academic goals. Interim Superintendent Matt Smith encouraged students to talk to their families about the future.

If the Nov. 4 bond passes, it would cost the average Des Moines homeowner about $16.53/month - less than a Netflix subscription and keeping the rate lower than five years ago.
Even with the bond, the DMPS tax rate would still be ~$2 lower than its 2020 peak.

DMPS presented a revised Reimagining Education plan in July - shaped by community feedback - reducing costs while keeping students first.
If the Nov. 4 bond doesn’t pass, the risk is building closures, staff reductions, and delayed safety upgrades.
