But not in you garden or driveway. As one who now lives in leasehold the service charge takes away an element of choice but it’s not necessarily more expensive than having to fork out for repairs and maintenance in a freehold property.

I remember splashing out for a tv, music centre and washing machine when I set up house in 1986 at those sort of prices. Luckily my job provided me with accommodation and a car loan so I had spare funds.

I’ve also noticed a sharp decline in @theguardian.com journalism in the last few months. Too many non-stories and vanilla pieces. I wonder what’s going on? The loss of @theobserveruk.bsky.social, mounting losses, few journalists?

The problem in the UK is that cycle routes simply run out. Locally the council have installed a partial route on the 8k from Godalming to Guildford but I’d like to be able to go safely all the way, especially in busy town centres.
