Throwing a fully compostable, mushroom-based package of my computing device into my garden feels like a more compelling vision of the future than being served by my humanoid robot in my huge and aseptic, well-designed house.

All these terrorist attacks by young Syrians against the German people, just before the crucial parliamentary elections. What a strange coincidence...

Really digging IEEE Spectrum lately. Their website, their content, their weekly newsletter. Everything.

The people who designed and built this API deserve a lot of money. I know it seems excessive, but I can't think of anything more influential these days. It seems so obvious in hindsight.

I must confess that I don't understand the value of speculative design practice. More specifically, I think it's basically useless.

You can't just design products for the future without considering social, economic, and technological constraints.

Sometimes you have thoughts that seem smart, but they're not.

AI assistants are pretty good at analyzing them and finding all the inconsistencies

Sometimes I think about the design work of Twitter just before the Musk takeover.

It felt clean and polished, but sadly it was never released. Getting rid of that work altogether was a complete waste of talent.

You're excited about the $500 billion invested in AI. But you forget that the $300 billion invested in clean tech was also scrapped.

managing reminders with ChatGPT is nice, but what's nicer? managing them with your favorite app (Things) via Apple Intelligence.

we need much more interoperability at the os level, not super apps that want to be everything.

If social media is frequently making you emotional it’s because you’ve been captured by an algo. Your weakness has been mapped.

A healthy group of people is not constantly excited or upset.
