Rather a sad story. Like her former teacher Marie Curie, she believed the new element could be used to treat cancer, but ended up dying from cancer, likely caused by exposure to radiation.

But I love that he takes the most tired ghost cliche – a figure in a bedsheet – and turns it into something really scary.

When I was in high school, a girl I knew was always spraying me with perfume as a joke. Running it through the dryer on a hot setting was effective. Other options: acid (vinegar, citric), alkali (baking soda), or steam cleaner (easy on fabric, but cleans all sorts of things).

It didn't always work so well. As a teenager, in HK around 1978, I remember seeing a building where the bamboo scaffolding had collapsed. A worker had been on it at the time, and was dragged against the concrete. There was a huge red swath down the side of the building. It was gruesome.
