I don't think it would be inappropriate to bottle up the byproducts of those facilities, and use them as a food additive for the executives who run them. If the byproducts are safe, they would have nothing to worry about.

The accusations are intended to make Republican voters think that it's "fair play" and "both sides do it" when elected Republicans misbehave. Like a kind of pre-clearance, except for criminal and unconstitutional acts.
