Avid reader and book collector; love good food, coffee and travel, as well as my people, pups, and AG dolls. Pretty much just here for the good stuff.
I bought myself a Samantha last summer and now I have almost seventy AG dolls. You're not wrong. Especially with the secondhand market, making them so much more affordable.🫣

what about an American Girl doll who starts collecting the American Girl dolls her parents couldn't afford to get her? She finds the second hand and custom made markets and overnight has 65 dolls.

No reason this came to mind. 🙄🤨

Fun for kids, but OH so overpriced.

Samantha and Rebecca. Love them both!

With Molly it was the personality more than anything, but I also love the stories. I find so many collectors who like Molly really relate to her personality.

With Caroline it was definitely great stories with a touch of regency, and the same for Nanea. The Pearl Harbor story was very engaging!

I think with Samantha it was a combination of both... She's a beautiful doll and I love the era, especially from a reforming standpoint.

I have no interest in Kirsten, Julie or Marie- Grace and Cecile. My favorite stories are Samantha, Caroline, Nanea, and Melody's. I wish that more girls had more stories! I would still like Addy and Ivy!

I have also purchased Molly and Emily, Felicity and Elizabeth, Josefina, Ruthie, Melody, Nanea, Caroline, Rebecca, Claudie, Maryellen, Courtney, and Nicki and Isabel, as well as several Truly Me dolls.

I bought Samantha and her books last year. That inspired me to buy Nellie, too. That then led me to start seriously collecting.

Look on marketplace or mercari. You can often find them from $30-60. Of course higher, too. But there's a whole bunch of gen x moms with basements full of them trying to make a buck.

Be careful! I thought this last summer and bought Samantha. Now I have about 50 of them. 😬😁

But I really do love them. They're therapeutic.

Sam is funny.

Way to misuse funds, Mr. Kennedy. This has been debunked repeatedly.

There's an entire generation, I meant.

Look on Facebook and Ebay and Mercari! Yes am entire generation of parents cleaning out their basements and selling them for a fraction of the new cost. Also, there's a lovely AG community of adult collectors.

How do I move to Austria, please?

I'm sorry- I didn't see anything about girls of color in your message! I thought you were just talking about the eras. But you're right about the fact that there aren't enough girls of color- historical or otherwise!

I get your point, but to be fair, both of those decades actually have 2-3 dolls each. (Molly, Emily, Nanea; Julie and Ivy).

Also, there are so many missing decades.
