The Foreign Service promotion list came out yesterday. At least 10 of the 264 FSOs unceremoniously fired last month were on the list, proving that merit played no role whatsoever in the firings.

It was a purge.

@joe-scarborough.bsky.social showing what a one dimensional thinker he truly is. He wasted 10 minutes of the interview with Chicago’s mayor insisting that he accept 5000 new cops. With a force of 14,000, that number, which he pulled out of his ass, would represent an increase of 35%.

One of the central achievements of the Affordable Care Act was to *raise* the Medicaid eligibility threshold to 133% of the federal poverty level—because everyone understood that there are plenty of folks who couldn't otherwise afford health care even though they're just over that (arbitrary) line.
Markwayne Mullin: "There are 35 million people that live below the poverty line inside the US. There are over 70 million people signed up for Medicaid. Now you're gonna tell me there's not room to make cuts?"

I was rewatching The Princess Bride when there was a quote I had never before noticed. After they climb the Cliffs of Insanity, they are leaving Inigo Montoya to face the Man in Black. Fezzick turns to him and says, “You be careful! People who wear masks are not to be trusted.”
