Re Q6 I'm pretty sure the human biking is not as efficient as a salmon swimming, the reason being the weight of the salmon is being supported by water plus it is superbly adapted for movement. The graphic appears to support this though it has no axis labels so is problematic in itself.

Which is worse, wiping out everything (buildings and people together) all in one go with nuclear on people who didn't expect it, or wiping out everything in a protracted campaign over several months with conventional weapons whilst terrorising and starving the remaining population?

You have a point re new developments and planning for recreational use though we don't know if that applies to this particular study. However dogs off leads are a problem for conservation. And it's one that's almost impossible to solve without being able to fence off areas and control access.
