Evacuating campers on July 4 would be a Herculean task so, just like the town council in the beginning of Jaws, they decided to whistle past the graveyard and assume the worst wouldn't happen.

Texas shuts down when the NWS predicts .1" of snow, out of "an abundance of caution" but they totally failed this time when there was a history of disaster and ample warning that conditions for extreme weather existed.

I believe the trailer for the show Rescue 911 featured several clips of the swift water rescues from the 87 flood.

Flooding is a thing in the Texas hill country. In 1978, Bandera flooded and people died. Survivors were rescued from trees. In 87, it happened. A few years ago it happened in Wimberley, tx. Before that, Halloween floods in Austin. The 1980 floods in Austin. Etc. www.ksat.com/weather/2025...

I lived nearly 50 years in that part of Texas. The forecasts often underestimate the amount of rain. Everyone there knows that this time of year, a 3 inch forecast can turn into 12 inches of rain with no warning and no way to predict it. The local sheriff's should have personally warned those camps

I know plenty of people who don't support specific Trump policies but they are not going to voice that opposition to their representative or senators and they definitely aren't voting Democratic next year. In other words, it doesn't matter to them. These polls don't matter.
