If they decide to go this route they HAVE to push standard brawl as the “casual” level format for on boarding brawl. But this is WOTC so they will most likely let it drown for the sake of super sweaty competitive players.

Magus Luca Kane was the first deck I ever bought and then upgraded, she’s my baby. Temur X spells is so resilient and explosive. Can easily overwhelm the early game with ramp or outlast the long game with dumping mana. It’s so fun.

Update: had an amazing time! Went 3-0 with a green-black-red earthbending deck. Fire nation drill is so oppressive. Love this set so much.

I’ve seen so many comments on Reddit abut the latest meta challenge, saying “see WOTC, this means we WANT a ranked queue!” Which like, I guess? But like I’m not about that at all.

That’s a good point. As far as a new player product, UB is a fantastic way into this great game. And commander (imo) is NOT the format new players should learn to get into Magic. 60 card formats are much more preferable. Really Jumpstart is the best at this but the 60 card formats are still good.

This 1000%. LOTR and FF felt great. So did 40k as a standalone commander set. But the “forced standard but all now more than 50% UB” is what kinda kills it for me, the over saturation.

For me, UB hasn’t really affected my gameplay of commander. I have no problem running cloud or megatron or Dogmeat in the command zone, or playing against them.
I have more of a problem with it in standard. UB should be an optional alternative that YOU want to engage in, and not be forced into.
