Someone with a lot of nerdy interests.

The thing that bugs me the most at this point is the game is out in like two weeks. Instead of guessing or predicting, just wait till the reviews are out or till you play it and then complain all you want on how the game turned out.

But can she crawl?
November 14, 2025 at 6:00 PM
That was my thing when people were complaining about the bike and open world. I'm just gonna wait till the game comes out and hear if it is good or not then.

At least is a video game, so like in other games, if the backlash big enough, maybe they will just patch out some of the chatter.

I tried keeping a spreadsheet for awhile, but I was really bad at keeping it updated. Now I am resorted to searching my email to see if there is a purchase receipt.

And the article itself delves through a whole range of analyst predictions, of which you only seem to point out a possible issue with one and then use that to dismiss the whole thing.
November 14, 2025 at 2:58 AM
Clickbait is colloquially used to dismiss the content. A title can draw you in and be viewed as clickbait, while the content being all valid. Like in this case, given that title is literally about what some analysts think the SteamMachine might cost.
November 14, 2025 at 2:56 AM
Dude, you literally said that the consoles were sold at break even at launch. Both of those articles factually discount that view. Like I guess twist it all you want so you can always be right.
November 14, 2025 at 2:53 AM
And the 5-6 years later and less powerful is a comment that does not understand hardware manufacturing given that this is a semi-custom design in a much smaller form factor. And again, has nowhere near the same amount of economies of scale as Sony or even Microsoft.
November 14, 2025 at 2:39 AM
And hardware loss always referred to the hardware alone. The software that people might buy later or at the same time has never factored into it. Under that view, pretty much no console would ever have sold for a loss.
November 14, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Again, and respectfully, this is factually not true. Here is one article when PS5 is no longer at loss a year after launch.

Here is another of Phil Spencer saying how much the Series was sold at a loss.

As for hostility, I don't have any. I am just pointing out where you are factually wrong.
November 14, 2025 at 2:28 AM
It is as most a click bait title. All it is is a summary of what some analysts think the cost might be. You can disagree all you want, but unless you want to pull out your pricing source sheet and how it adds up, that doesn't make anything you think any more valid than what they wrote.
November 14, 2025 at 2:28 AM
Also comparing consoles to Valve doesn't even make much sense in that aspect because they don't even have the same economy of scale.
November 14, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Yeah, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X were both sold at losses initially, so maybe next time check your facts.
November 14, 2025 at 2:22 AM
That's my thing on saying I don't know who this is marketed too. If it is priced that high, you aren't really going to compete with PS5 or Switch, and I don't know who on the PC side doesn't just spend more for a better machine but worse form factor.
November 14, 2025 at 1:52 AM
That would just make Mickey lore accurate.
November 13, 2025 at 11:53 PM
That would be my ideal price. But it seems like current predictions don't even consider that on the low end. But they could all be wrong, so who knows.
November 13, 2025 at 11:49 PM
Computers aren't sold at a loss typically. Sorry if that went over your head.
November 13, 2025 at 11:27 PM
If they aren't seeing consoles as target market, then I would worry even more about price matching what some of those analysts gussed. Cause the what is your market? People who want to play PC games on a TV, but not hook up a tower, and also fine with slower performance?
November 13, 2025 at 11:24 PM
I'm doubtful on that. The 1TB SteamDeck OLED is $649. Same time Sony PS5 digital is $500, so who knows. I think big thing will be if Valve plans on selling for loss or not.
November 13, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Doing SEO for clicks doesn't change the article contents. And it is literally a summary of different analysts predictions. There isn't really anything to fact check.

And they already said they are pricing the machine like a computer, which makes it unlikely they are pricing for a loss.
November 13, 2025 at 11:01 PM
I think the higher end estimates are probably wrong. But I wouldn't be surprised if the machine ends up being more expensive than people were expecting.
