As the Veeam Software Appliance, JeOS Appliance and VHR deployments become more common, I've noticed a slight uptick in users receiving "An Unknown System Error has Occurred" due to using the incorrect image mode in RUFUS. So which mode should you use?

Addressing “An Unknown Error has Occurred” when creating Veeam Appliance Installer - Tech Notes & Dad Jokes
I'm happy to report that Veeam has a new KB for any of those that are deploying the Veeam Hardened Repository v.2.0, Veeam Software Appliance or Veeam JeOS appliances from USB thumb-drive. I've notice this particular issue recently reported on Reddit and elsewhere where users are experiencing the error "An unknown error has occurred" when

Embark with me, if you will, on a journey where retired hardware is is not dead, and instead, recycled. Let's take an old Barracuda Backup 290, Frankenstein it just a little bit, and transform it into a Veeam Hardened Repository, dubbed the Veeam290.

Recycled Hardware – The Veeam290, a Veeam Hardened Repository - Tech Notes & Dad Jokes
Several months ago I came across an old Barracuda 290 backup appliance from a former client that was no longer in use. These old appliances don't generally have a lot of power, but I like to repurpose things for the lab or for experimentation when I can. For instance, I've previously repurposed a Datta ALTO

Deploying a Veeam Hardened Repository via the VHR ISO but now your keyboard won't work, or receiving an error stating your Device is not authorized for usage? The culprit is likely USBGuard, but we can fix that! #Linux #RockyLinux #VBR #Veeam #VHRISO

Veeam Hardened Repository – Device is not authorized for usage - Tech Notes & Dad Jokes
When you reference the Veeam Hardened Repository ISO, you'll note that the word "hardened" is in there. What makes the VHR "hardened"? I've touched on this before, but Veeam makes use of STIG's to harden the OS to the DISA recommendations. One of those functions used to harden the OS is USBGuard. And what is

With the release of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v8.1 last week, several errors are now resolved including for the Sharepoint Online error regarding "WebPart ExportMode to ‘All’". So let's get upgraded and see if the errors disappear!

Cannot change WebPart ExportMode to ‘All’. WebPart will be skipped (WebPart ID: ) I've been overlooking the above error with the intention to address it (and have attempted a couple times), but never found enough time to dedicate to a final resolution. However, with Veeam releasing Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v8.1 last week, this

Been on Bluesky for a while but wasn't really using it (just like Mastadon). The other day my wife asked me what it was all about, and it looks like a mass migration has been begun and this thing might just stick, hopefully with less politics, so I guess I may have to spend more time over here.
