Saw Weezer last night in the centre of my grim little northern hometown, a week after Deftones played the same venue, where I saw Korn last year, with Limp Bizkit and playing the year before, among others!

15 yr old me would never believe The Piece Hall would become the best music venue in the UK!

Wait I haven’t read all the PD James books, which one is the new series based on? 😄

Currently using sophisticated leak detection equipment to find why there’s always a puddle in the footwell.

Somewhere in the engine bay is leaking through the firewall.

Behold, gratuitous Ford Capri content as the sun’s out, and it’s time for her to wake up.

Leakey’s is excellent, I visited when up there researching what became my debut novel, and scored Agatha Christie and Len Deighton first editions, and an amazing Bond US library edition, among others!

Hence that book name-checks Leakey’s!

An excellent bookshop. I visited when up there researching what became my debut novel, and bought Agatha Christie and Len Deighton first editions, and an amazing Bond US library edition.

So when my book was published, I name-checked Leakey’s!

Strangely these pictures also captured my imagination, of ‘X - The Unknown’ - the Quatermass film that wasn’t!

I’m still on with ‘Northerners: A History’ by Brian Groom.

Fascinating stuff!

So, from an in-joke with my editor, I ended up with proper artist drawn covers.

I’ll always be hugely grateful to my editor and publisher, and also the artist, that I have the coolest covers, and three amazing posters on my wall.

For Black Run I tried to specify the clothes but thought, you know what, here! I sent a pic of myself in my own hoody and jeans and jacket.
So… that’s a sexy, murderous version of me. 😄

Only thriller with Adidas Shelltops on the cover?

They also included my actual car, a 2007 Audi RS4 Avant.

We all then agreed that the previous two books needed rejacketing, and new matching covers were commissioned for those by the same artist!

For Anthrax Island I was suggested characters, and had input on exactly how the Ford Capri should look!

Only book with an X-Pack Mk2 Ford Capri on the cover?

They liked it, and a few weeks later they’d commissioned an artist to draw an original cover in the style of 70s action thrillers. (By the amazing The Red Dress)

I asked for the Mil helicopter and the UAZ van, and the Soviet hotel in the background is based on one I stayed in!

Sorry, I may be biased but I have the best book covers in the genre 😄

When I sent in my final manuscript for my third book, I stuck on a vintage style cover I’d mocked up as a joke to my editor, using old Alistair MacLean books, among others:

As a massive Uncanny fan I was introduced to the concept of sick buildings by @dannyrobins.bsky.social, so this looks super interesting!

As for me, I’m still on seasonal short horror!

I can’t lie, like 50% of his Lego used to be mine so I massively enjoy it 😁 yup, very good for the mind.
I’m not fancy enough for the big Star Wars sets though.

His room is a tip cos he’s mid-build 😄 but he now has at least seven big IKEA tubs full. It’s basically a Lego room.

I also got this for Christmas, and will be diving in this afternoon, Shrewsbury is looking perfectly misty today.

In Shropshire for Christmas, and my view is something straight out of a folk horror.

Clearly the gallows tree from an MR James short on the horizon there.

Currently writing folk horror so immersing myself in all sorts!

I’ve started commuting again so binging these podcasts.

Cheers, queued up and ready!
