I made my daughter run away from a Rainbow Friend in real life as a means of limiting screen time.

My favorite Rainbow Friend is Blue. I like his gait and posture.

The best line I ever saw in a reference letter for a faculty candidate, from the postdoc advisor, was "If I got hit by a bus this afternoon, the lab would be fine because [the candidate] could keep everything up and running indefinitely."

One time a student, a guy, showed up to my 150-seat lecture, sat in the back row, shirtless, the whole time. The most SoCal thing I ever saw.

Thanks, but we would prefer our BS graduates stay here for their MS. Also, please send your BS graduates to do their MS here.

After a long hiatus, I'm again scheduled to teach intermolecular/interfaces to graduate students @urchegrad.bsky.social. So excited about putting chalk to board that I may not even use my full complement of recordings youtu.be/7C1JyqgWZs4?...

The more valves and pipes and lubricant a trombone has, the more i can justify this activity as "chemical engineering"

The whole point of being a professor is to cancel terms like Zorro on an actual chalkboard. But only with Hagoromo chalk.

I've disproved the Pauli exclusion principle: there are apparently 63 servings in a can of whipped cream.

Last week, we offloaded 421 chemical bottles from our collection of 600 in San Diego that we couldn't ship to Rochester. Labs were eager to take them. cen.acs.org/environment/...
The chemical storage graveyard has to go
Don’t keep lab materials around for just-in-case uses. Finding ways to share and conserve resources is a cornerstone of greening chemistry

"Reframe" is the new "delve" and it's--annoying--as hell.

Why no court composer like Mozart or Salieri in the US executive branch? A Viennese tradition we must revive.

Every Wednesday I do the dance of taking half a leftover seminar donut pretending like I'm not gonna go back five minutes later for the other half.

As an aspiring author, I can tell you that professors have nothing on them in terms of rejections and unanswered queries.

What's the difference between environmental engineering and sustainability engineering? Environmental engineering is downstream of the pipe; sustainability engineering is upstream of the pipe. Both are needed. youtube.com/shorts/7Ej_L...
