Very excited about this little side project I stumbled onto today. I accidentally learned a few key things about #3Dmodeling today and ended up here. Each of these is also an #NFC tag linking to my instagram account. They are of course reprogrammable by anyone with a smartphone, so that’s cool.

Stumbled on a small cache of rebellion tokens. Hard to say exactly what they’re doing out this far. Still running some analyses but I think this might be reprogrammable.

Very pleased with how this Commander Droid head turned out. I really raced to the finish line on it and would definitely like to revisit it soon. (The neck needs some work). Currently waiting for the base to dry with a coat of metallic black just to give it a little more dimension.

This is a basic shoulder armor piece I printed ages ago. Today I sanded it to 600 grit and then primed with filler primer. I plan to use this as a test piece for the aluminum dome on #R2-D2

This was a fucking unbelievable challenge for me and I’m really proud of the result. I pushed myself with the sheer size and learned so much about 3D Printing and making along the way. The files are from Droid Division and I truly couldn’t do it without Dave’s immaculate work.

It’s 1.93m/6’4” tall. The droid body is about 6kg/13 pounds of PLA filament. It’s possible from the waist up but the legs/hips are rigid for strength and so it can stand on its own. There’s a wooden dowel through each leg, the hips, and the torso also for added strength and stability.

The battle droid project is officially complete. This guy is fully 3D printed and finished by me over the course of about three months of active work. A lot of time was spent as a raw print waiting out the winter but in that time I also built the accessories. #maker #starwars #3dprinting #droids
