To be fair, based on all his Tantric stuff, Sting likely believed the money never actually had to touch their bank accounts for them to feel it.

It's hard to take any team that's giving the quartet of Larsson, Lindgren, Gaudreau & Stephenson big minutes and/or cap hits seriously.

I think Gorton’s main errors are trusting scouts/assistants with poor track records (Gordie, Morehouse & Drury) and thinking that Trouba was going to be his next Chara. Hes been similarly hurt by his scouting dept. in Montreal (Reinbacher) and he’s tried to find his Chara again (Dobson).
January 11, 2026 at 1:18 AM
You’ll have to find the links, but yes. Brooksie had reports at the time of Drury’s internal push for DQ based on his BU connections. And there was a whole article at the time of Drury pushing for Hajek based on his scouting of the WJC and him comparing Hajek to McDonagh.
January 11, 2026 at 1:01 AM
Beyond that, Drury was the driving force behind bringing both Quinn and Hajek here. And That’s just the pre-promotion stuff.
January 10, 2026 at 11:14 PM
I’m not entirely sure that’s the case. Drury started running player development around 15-16?
Don’t think it’s a coincidence that basically every single player under him in Hartford with a Euro assignment clause took it. That combined with all the reports from that time paint a very clear picture.

I mean I'd say the bottom 6 is a much bigger issue than Luke. Team is a black hole without Nico or Jack out there. That's on Fitzy. He's done a great job with the cap otherwise but completely botched the bottom 6, it was their primary issue last post-season and Glendening only made it worse.

This is the one with the grandfather who was in the Nazi military right ?
January 8, 2026 at 6:20 PM
Yeah it certainly started with Clear Channel's crusade to monopolize the industry following the 1996 Telecom act. By the time we got to 2005, the dust was pretty much settled.
January 7, 2026 at 5:27 PM
Oh it's not from one night...

Just haven't thought about the Devs in awhile and recalled this summer my confusion in Fitzy thinking Glendening would bring different results than Dowling + Lazar.

That part's going pretty much as expected.

The Sh% cratering for NJ that much is crazy though.
January 7, 2026 at 4:10 PM
I've been a big fan of Tom Fitzgerald his first few seasons running the show in NJ. But his repeated inability to assemble a bottom 6 that isn't underwater is honestly weird considering his ability to otherwise get good bang for buck on the roster.
January 7, 2026 at 3:31 PM
yeah I'm not sure how he's doing it. Seems to be a quantity thing more than a quality thing in that Nashville simply always has the puck when he's on the ice but the quality of shots they have for/against with him on/off are the same. GF numbers even more positive than xG is interesting too.
January 7, 2026 at 3:04 PM
Can't remember the last time I saw a graph like this with a player so essential to his team at both ends. Maybe slight credit to Trotz for surrounding him with garbage.
January 7, 2026 at 1:36 PM
Less of a collapse, more of a purposeful dismantling. Bain Capital bought Iheartradio (clear channel) which operated the majority of stations in ‘08 and they pushed the sterile, uplifting crap that defined 2010’s radio rock (Mumford, Imagine Dragons, 21 Pilots).
January 7, 2026 at 12:14 PM
Yeah Peterka's defensive metrics seem to have completely fallen off the table last season and haven't rebounded.
At this point, he's the anti-Doan: a very good finisher, efficient but low volume transition guy & good passer in the o-zone.
Hayton's a good complement for him. As is Tage for Doan.
January 5, 2026 at 3:54 PM
Yeah I mean 38 games amounts to almost 30% of his career. And his differential over the last 3 seasons is 0. Small samples all around. Would expect his card to look a bit different by end of season. Really great buy low candidate especially with Holland now in control.
January 3, 2026 at 6:21 PM
Looks like Turcotte’s Penalty diff is positive this season…
January 3, 2026 at 3:54 PM
It seems like "Does he have a cup?" was considered on par with "Is he good?" in their evaluation criteria.
December 31, 2025 at 10:08 PM
I mean Lou is/was one of the worst GM's in the league and last season Kreider & Nelson held about equal market value. So when iook at the returns for each, it becomes clear how much worse our guy is than a known bottom of the league GM.
December 31, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Offensively yes, 100%.

Carolina seems susceptible to rushes against & counterattacks in a way that Florida isn't. Relatedly, Carolina is 100% N/S in their exits often favoring territory over possession, while Florida tends to be a lot more possession conscious through the neutral zone.
December 30, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Yeah curious to see the Florida model, which is entirely grounded in being risk averse: Amongst the worst in the league in rush offense, rush sh% & counter attacks. But amongst the best in the league in Cycle offense, Rush D, & HD Pass D, And how repeatable it'd be with other personnel.
December 30, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Slightly surprised to see no Carlson. I kind of expected to see Troy Terry and Spencer Knight to get spots but that's not worth quibbling over.

Great work.
December 27, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Honest question, last time MSGN rolled a Rangers tribute reel?
December 16, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Is this how you soften everyone up for your “Byfield, Blake, Benson & Schaefer should all be on the Olympic roster” post?
December 15, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Oh you just skip the 2nd after the intro to watch Habs. Come back for MI3
