So, I went back to the drawing board, drawing on a wide range of work on foraging. There seemed to me to be two general approaches: you can analyze foraging in terms of features of the environment or in terms of search and decision processes (or both). My analysis of foraging utilizes both. (3/6)

I provide a conceptual analysis of foraging. Upon starting the project, I thought an analysis would be readily available in optimal foraging theory. But I noticed that there typically is not such an analysis provided, and relying on the optimal foraging formalisms themselves would be circular. (2/6)

Haha. Well, it’s a good question. Acceptance rates are also absurd. For example, here’s a pie chart of paper submission outcomes in Philosophical Review—widely regarded as the best in the field. They accept so few papers, there’s literally no slice for accepted
