Social liberal, supporter of PR. Albany Law ‘26. Professional mensch. Legislative term limits suck. Love buttons. Love da Islanders.
(4/4)

4. Semyon Varlamov (4 years x 2.75m) this is the worst contract. Varly is still good now, but he will be 39 at the end of this contract. Huge risk that he reverts. The contract itself is fine the term is meh. But he is Ilya Sorokin's best friend and a good mentor so it shouldn't be that bad.

3. Pierre Engvall (7 years x 3m) the most controversial contract. At the end of last season Palmieri-Nelson-Engvall was the best line. He's only 27 and has some room to develop into a power forward. Also, like Mayfield, in a non-flat cap era, a buyout would be fine if it happened.

2. Scott Mayfield (7 years x 3.5m) one of the more questionable. He will be 37 when this contract is finished and will probably be washed by then. However, consider that the cap is going up dramatically soon and this can help them reach the floor if they need to buy out. Also, he's good atm.

My thoughts on the NY Islanders UFA Re-signings (1/4):

1. Ilya Sorokin (8 years x 8.25m): This contract is a Lou fleece. Not only is he 1.75m cheaper than a goalie like Sergei Bobrovsky, he is better. He is 27, so young for a goalie. This contract will be a gem as long as he stays healthy.

Let's talk about something important: I say the 22-50-10 New York Islanders.
