My new favorite thing is when I see a tech article that piques my interest and it's fine until about halfway in it starts quoting some semi-famous Effective Altruism or Rationalist person and say, "And I'm seeing this on a much smaller scale around me..." and I immediately nope out.

Ugh Spectrum is so annoying. Promo pricing expired. They "no longer sell 600 Mbps," only 500Mbps and 1Gbps. Only promo was "a free mobile line for a year." Downgraded to 500Mbps saving $20/mo because between the two of us we really don't need more and I'm not paying $100/mo or more for 1Gbps.

I'm in decent shape financially, but this last trip out to California really brought home how badly inflation is hitting travel and other "luxuries". And that's with lodging and tickets covered as a birthday present by my friends.

Sucks I gotta add ansible and a bootstrap shell script into my Fresh Repeatable Workstation setup but the freedom and ease of dropping Fedora Atomic is worth it.

SystemD is not TERRIBLE but it is a little weird just how much of a Linux distribution it runs and feels way too monolithic and fiddly when YOU personally need to make a daemon run or scheduled task do a thing or touch the network. The mental overhead of writing a systemd unit is insane.
