New from @slawton.bsky.social & me: Mainstream news coverage almost completely ignored Bannon's extensive ties to Epstein. Only 8% of print articles from leading newspapers drew connections between the two. Even worse, no broadcast news segments did.

Here's how conservative pundits described the biggest cuts to the social safety net in modern history:
- “nobody is gutting the safety net”
- "go find a big, beautiful job”
- "everything will be OK"
- “If there are cuts [...] for people who refuse to work [...] that is super duper sad”

I wrote about Steve Bannon's campaign to convince Trump to suspend habeas corpus to facilitate mass deportations before the Supreme Court recess at the end of June.

The idea to suspend habeas didn't start with Miller in the White House driveway. Bannon has been calling for it since 4/22.

NEW: After Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, Fox News told its viewers that 87K new armed IRS agents were going to act as a "new Gestapo" to hunt conservatives.

Now, it's cheering on the abduction of Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk by masked, plainclothes agents of the state.

Instead you'd see hair-on-fire reporting highlighting every negative outcome that could even conceivably be tied to that type of program. at the risk of stating the obvious, if a left-wing president started doing things like using eminent domain to enact widespread land reform and expropriating monopolist firms that essentially operate as utilities, you wouldn't see mainstream headlines about "bold actions" and "provocation."
