Also seems to be a flip in defensive philosophy. Instead of emphasizing the pass rush getting to the QB before the backend breaks down, they're emphasizing sound coverage to allow the pass rush to get there. If memory serves, I don't think mahomes' time-to-throw was that diff than usual in the SB.

The surprising part is that he's gotten Howie and the org to invest draft capital in the LB position even when there is no immediate need. This previously was reserved mainly for OL and DL (and CB to a lesser extent) if I'm not mistaken.

Agree it's not a rugby play, but it could be argued that it's not a football play either. One could argue that a football play should be a run or pass play with the intention of gaining yardage.

Ok, that's fair and I'd agree with the call if that was the case. I have a different opinion. He was beaten and trying to make up ground and he wasn't going to make it up. To me, it was minor hand fighting that had no impact. Just diff opinions.
