Democracy has died in the USA. Some good people are trying artificial respiration. Many others are standing in silence, hoping for a resurrection. American democracy didn’t die in one fatal event. It didn’t even die of 1,000 small cuts, although these were administered in the final hours.

It is a mistake to explore any of the President’s words or actions as though they prioritize the ‘good’ of the USA, however anyone imagines he conceives it. The man has absolutely no interest in the nation except as a stage on which to play out his petty rages or on which to create a distraction.

It is a mistake to name the President of the US. (1) Naming him is oxygen. “I don’t care what you say about me, as long as you mention my name.” (2)
His enablers will still be there when he is gone. They need to be tied, now, to the as yet unknown consequences. “The Republican administration”.
