In what genre(s) do you write? I agree betas are rare and wonderful creatures. Have you tried doing critique swaps with other authors?

I have found this to be especially true for middle of the night thoughts. I awaken to an epic idea, jot it down, read the note the next morning, and am instantly disappointed. I no longer write things down unless the thought is persistent and grows.

True. Your options tend to either be Sea Capt'n or Princess Puff Petals. Lume makes an unscented I tend to favor. It's nice to have something that stops the odor instead of just out-stinking it.
