Fun fact, in Portugal we also had a 30y dictatorship that ended due to the efforts of the Portuguese Communist Party, but while we were preparing for fair elections, the US stationed a navy ship in Lisbon and "donated" $10 million to opposition leaders that would be more favorable to their interests
