It's not surprising that Chad is looking into new cities, with a population that has almost doubled in the past 20 years. The idea of placing it near the old captial follows similar plans in Egypt and Madagascar, as well as satellite cities in Ghana and Nigeria.

I have to admit, saying that your project will be "bigger than Singapore"... in area... is a bit that I would not have thought of. The fact that this project has been in the works for almost 20 years and is nothing but trees is not a good sign for that.

This is a fairly glowing article for a city that, as of 2025, has a lot of hurdles to clear before it can even break ground. This urban planner can certainly talk a big game, but he may have a harder time convincing voters of his authenticity.

This guy clearly knows his stuff when it comes to new cities. He's in the opposition party and is free, for now, to make pie-in-the-sky proposals, but you don't usually see promoters of these "powerpoint cities" bring up actual, real examples like Putrajaya.
